Prop8 and Education

Opponents of Prop 8 will tell you that the Supporters of Prop 8 are lying about the effect on education if this is not passed.

Many sites (including mine) have pointed out what has happened in Massachusetts where parents are being told they not only can't opt-out their children from homosexual and same sex marriage discussions/indoctrination, but that they have no right to have a say in what their children are taught. Opponents will tell you that California will not be like that because we have a right to opt-out in this state, supposedly Massachusetts did not have this.

So - how do you know who is telling the truth? You don't have to look far because what the Opponents of Prop8 say will not happen here, has in fact already begun.

Class Surprises Lesbian Teacher on Her Wedding Day
A class of 1st graders went on a field trip to their lesbian teacher's wedding. Now from what I've read, in this case the children were required to get permission slips, however in order to justify the field trip as being academically related it was deemed as a "teachable event".

"It really is what we call a teachable moment," Jaroflow said, noting the historic significance of same-sex marriage and related civil rights issues. "I think I'm well within the parameters."

So much for those who say homosexual lifestyles are not discussed in the school, especially at such a young age (opponents of Prop8 claim this as well as many blog commenters who insist on calling those of us who support Prop8 liars!)

However, even more disturbing is the following story:

School Holds Surprise Gay Day for Kindergartners
A "Coming Out Day" was held today at this school in California (not far from Sacramento). Other events include celebrating Gay and Lesbian History Month and observing "Ally Week" which usually targts high school students.

Even more disturbing is the fact that the school did not see the need to inform any of the parents of these events. They have confirmed the events are taking place, but they are not listed on the public calendar! How are parents supposed to "opt-out" as we keep being told we have the right to do in California if we are not being informed of what our children are being taught! Click on the link above and read the full article yourself!

Regardless of how you feel about same-sex marriage, this country has a freedom of religion right. As parents we have a right (and a God-given duty) to teach our children morals.

Even if for some reason you don't believe that I have a right to teach my children morals - it can not be denied that the claims of the Prop8 opponents that this will not affect our children's education are lies. It is already affecting our children's education and being pushed down our throats. In the words of San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom - "The door's wide open. It's going to happen whether you like it or not!" - Well Gavin, not if I can help it!

Boycott Hallmark's "gay wedding" cards! said...

It's all about changing the world for our kids, folks! - - And that's why we need to join the Boycott against Hallmark Cards, too, because of their "gay wedding" greeting cards!!!
Everybody should sign the petition at http://hallmarkboycott.com, so we can express our outrage to them, too. It's high time we take a stand in this culture war because the stakes are just too high to give the liberals a free pass any longer.

If we don't stand up to the left on marriage - - in elections, in ballot initiatives like Prop8, in business, in our churches and in the culture at large - - then our children will grow up being forced to embrace all types of immorality in the name of so-called "love" and "marriage." Hallmark is one of those iconic institutions (just like McDonalds was) that we MUST not allow to take sides against God's design for the family.

I urge everyone to tell Hallmark you're taking your business elsewhere if they don't drop their pro-homosexual cards!

Here's a danger we haven't seen much talk about: Will Proposition 8 Legalize Polygamy?

Reuven,

As with the article you linked to on Mike's blog, I must say this takes quite a bit of stretching to imagine (even more so than the last one actually). If anything - Prop8 not passing would be more likely to promote polygamy at some point because the foundation of marriage would be worn away more so that eventually anything would be allowed. Marrying more than one person, marrying animals, marrying children. That would be less of a stretch of the imagination than polygamy being allowed because Prop8 is passed!

You are saying because it does not specifically say "between two people" that this will be used to support polygamy!? Please note, the wording is between "a" man and "a" woman. Last time I checked "a" in the English language was one. It does not say "between men and women".

Reuven,

Since my last comment I've gone back and looked at your site a bit more closely and I have a question for you if you dare to answer it.

Your banner says "Keep the Faith, Save Christianity, Vote No on Prop 8". However, after clicking on that and seeing where it leads I have to wonder if you truly are a Christian at all and if you are really concerned at all about Christianity. Are you?

I'm beginning to believe you don't care about Christianity and probably don't care about Mormons either. I'm getting the feeling that you are just trying to stir up paranoia within the Christian community because the stand we are making for God's Truth is becoming a threat to you. And I must say that I feel you have under estimated our intelligence. These arguements are very very weak at best and most anybody could see right through them.

If I am wrong I apologize, but I feel the need to call you out on this. Either way I will be praying for you - you are obviously a very misguided individual. I pray someday you will truly understand how much the Lord loves you.

religious beliefs shouldn't be imposed on a society that is of many religions or none at all

what is considered immoral to you is only based upon your religious belief

who are u to say what is moral and immoral for an entire state?

I posted one response to the above Anonymous comment but then removed it because the Lord convicted me.

In the end, all I have to say is two things. First, I find it very discouraging how often my beliefs are determined to be invalid in regards to politics because they are deemed to be "religious". We all voted based on our beliefs, I'm only doing what all other Americans do.

Second, and most importantly, I will stand by the Truth of God. In the end, no matter what everyone's "beliefs" are, God's Truth will still be the Truth. Our beliefs do not change the Truth of God.
