So far I've been trying to keep my posts for the challenge related to things I am thankful for regarding the US. Today will be a bit different since this is the last day of the challenge (although it would be good for all of us, myself included, to continue making a point to post these at least on a weekly basis).
Today I am thankful for all the people in my life who keep me from getting too negative. I've tried very hard over the years to not be a negative person, and overall I think I've been successful. However, I tend to be a very loyal person who expects the same from others. I'll put up with alot, but once I've gotten to the point where I've had enough it is really hard for me to get past it. I just keep reminding myself that I have a God who has forgiven me for EVERY time I have turned my back on Him. In honor of that I need to do the same. It is only in His power that I am able to though.
In order to help me with this, I truely believe the Lord has put certain people in my life to help me get back on the correct path when I start to stray. It is usually the negative and bitter side of myself that starts me down these "other" paths. Therefore, I thank everyone who is enough of a friend to me, to honestly tell me when I am going down the wrong path (yet again!)
* Holy Spirit - He speaks to me quite often when my thoughts and attitudes need adjusting! I just wish I would listen more often, or at least sooner. It would save me a lot of trouble! I am getting to where I can hear Him better now. It just takes practice and moving my focus onto the Lord instead of myself.
* My Husband - Yes we have our issues at times, but you are always willing to tell me the truth and let me know when I'm just acting childish. I don't always like it when you point this out to me, but in the end I do appreciate it. Also, thank you for showing me all the good I do have in my life. You and our children are four of the biggest things I have to be thankful for every day (even the days when it seems our home is just full of noise!) I thank the Lord for bringing you into my life and I love you more everyday (even those days when I don't seem to show it to you).
* My Church House Family - they are wonderful and always are honest with me in a loving way. They support me with prayer as well. If any of you read this, please know that you keep me sane. You are my life support group and I truely love you all and consider you family.
* Julie - If you are reading this, thanks for always listening and being there for me. You let me vent and then cheer me up. I know you always think I am cheering you up and making you laugh when you are down, but what you don't know is that by doing that for you, I cheer myself up as well.
* Dana - Thanks for all the laughs and for always listening. You always know how to give me that little boost of confidence I need. In alot of ways you remind me of my family back home and that keeps me from getting so homesick.
* The Nutter Man (see Happy UPs at Nutter's Notes) and Blessed1 (aka Wornoutwoman). Thank you for the challenges to focus on the happy things in my life instead of the bad, as we are usually prone to do.
* I know there are many, many more of you out there and I want to ensure you all know how much you've touched my life and how very much I appreciate all you do for me (even when you don't realize you are doing things for me!)
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all generously and without reproach; and it will be given to him. ~James 1:5

Thankful Blog Challenge - Day 6 (Friday's)
See Blessed1's original challenge post here.
* * * * * * * * * * *
Today (or rather yesterday) I am thankful for the choices and opportunities we are given in this country. My family was not poor growing up, however we did not have much in the way of extras. My parents did their best for my brother and I, however being able to put aside money for our college educations unfortunately was not a possiblity for them. However, they encouraged us and helped in every other way possible to ensure we received a good education. They wanted us to be able to do better for ourselves and our families than they had been able to. As a parent now, I know that this is a wish all parents have for their kids.
Thanks to scholarships and student loans (which I'm still paying, but they were worth it!) I was able to go to college. Due to this I've been able to get a very good job and have gained experience that has now enabled me to have a job which I enjoy (most of time at least) and which is flexible. It may not be as flexible as my husband's job (he works from home) however, I'm able to make my own hours to a certain extent. This allows me to complete my job responsiblities and still be able to do things with my family, such as attend my daughter's t-ball game yesterday at 5PM.
I am thankful the Lord has allowed me to find a job that is a healthier environment for myself and therefore for my family. I'm thankful I live in a country in which there are opportunities for people who may not have a lot of financial means to be able to better themselves and support their family. I'm also thankful that due to my job I am able to afford the choice to have my daugthter attend a local Christian school. I'm also thankful that a Christian school is a choice that is available! I'm not sure we'll be able to afford this once all three kids are in school, but I'm trusting the Lord to direct us and provide when we get there. I know He loves my kids even more than I do and He will take care of them and provide for them.

Thankful Blog Challenge - Day 5
See Blessed1's original challenge post here.
* * * * * * * * * * *
Today I'm thankful for all that I have and all that all of us living in the US have. The "poor" in the US are richer than most in other countries. I know this may not always make us feel any better when we are dealing with our issues, however God tells us to focus on Him first and others second, ourselves come after that. I think if we all did this more often (including and especially myself!) we would all be more thankful for all that we have.
Today I am so thankful for the blessing God has placed in my life:
1. My husband
2. My children
3. My parents
4. My family (outside of those listed above)
5. My church family
6. My home
7. My job
This is just the beginning of all the blessings God has given me.

Thankful Blog Challenge - Day 4
See Blessed1's original challenge post here.
* * * * * * * * * *
Today I am thankful for all the Christians in this country who stand up for God's Word.
Let me explain myself a bit. I do not believe that we can legislate morality. The Law was given by our Lord so that we could realize that we can not ourselves keep it. It points out to us in no uncertain terms the sin in our lives and how we are not worthy to stand before an Awesome and Holy God. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, we can do ourselves to change this! However, if we choose to pursue our God and accept the relationship He wants to have with us, our Savior Jesus will cover us when we stand before our God. Through this relationship we learn to live for the Lord and do as He wants, not because of the Law, but because we love Him and want to please Him. He is our focus.
Now back to our country and today's thankful challenge. Once again, I do not believe we can legislate morality. Passing laws regarding morality only serve to point out how we can not live up to them as a country. HOWEVER, I do believe just like God's Law is needed to open our eyes to our need to have a relationship with Him, laws against immoral acts in our country keeps our focus where it needs to be. If we allow laws to be passed that make it legal (note I say legal, not right/moral) to do things that are not pleasing to God, we allow ourselves as a country to become complacent. You see these things will then become more common place and although we may not do them ourselves at first, we stop thinking about them as being wrong. Soon we find ourselves making rationalizations and find ourselves falling into sin. The nation falls into sin and further from God.
Abortion is one example of this. Because of the rationalization of a woman's right to make choices regarding her own body (regardless of the human growing inside of her having absolutely no choice) and because of the rationalization that women will do it anyway and endanger themselves, this country chose to make this "choice" legal. Once again, I say legal, not right or moral. Man can make laws, only God can determine what is right or moral. Now abortion has become common place for many people and even those who may not choose to have an abortion themselves, will rationalize this "choice". We've allowed sin into our midst and now our nation (and women of our nation) are suffering for it. Banning abortion would not make it go away, only women turning to God will do this, however it would be a stand for God to show that we will not rationalize sin any longer.
Therefore, today I am thankful for those who take a brave stand for the Lord and what is right in God's sight (the only true vision!) regardless of what others may think of them. I am thankful for those who are able to stand for God and at the same time show God's love to those who are lost in that sin. God bless you all!

Thankful Blog Challenge - Day 3
Visit Blessed1 for the original Blog Challenge
Today will be very short since it is already past 10PM. I have church house on Tuesday nights and usually do not get home until after 9PM.
So with that being said, today I am thankful that I have the right in this country to publicly believe and exercise my faith in my God and Savior. Now, to be honest it is not a very "PC" thing to do in this country anymore to truely follow Christ (maybe it never was!), but as of right now I still have the right to do so.
I could have said I have the right to believe in my God, however to be honest, no government can restrict what I believe or do not believe (although some may think and try to legislate differently). They can not get into my heart or mind and make any changes. The rights I do have in this country though are to be able to publicly live out this faith and my set of beliefs without fear of imprisonment. I may be looked down upon and riduculed by some for it, but I know I will not be put in prison for it.
I have the freedom to meet every Tuesday night to fellowship, worship and pray with my wonderful Church Family. That may not seem to be something all that big, but many Christians in other countries do not have this luxury. Although in some ways they are better off, because I've noticed the faith and and total reliance and abandoment to the Lord is much greater!
So today, I'm thankful I was able to share time with my family without fear of someone breaking down our door and hauling us away.

Thankful Blog Challenge - Day 2

* * * * * * * * * * * *
Today's thankful post is regarding our President. To be honest, George W. Bush seems to be a President that people either love or hate. There is not much in between. While I do not necessarily agree with all the decisions he has made, I do admit that he has a lot more on his shoulders than me and I probably could not make better decisions. I do support him as our President and pray for him in his difficult position.
The thing I am thankful for, is the fact that George W. Bush genuinely seems to be a man of God and a man of Faith. He truely seems to try to seek the Lord in the decisions he makes. As I said I may not agree with everything he has done, but I do not believe he is a bad President, definitely not what the media and liberals make him out to be. AND for all I know, he could be doing exactly what the Lord has told him to do and I just don't know the plans God has.
Anyway, that is my thankful thought for the day. I believe our President is sincere in his faith and his desire to lead this country with God's direction. Like the rest of us he is human though. Think about it, even David messed up (pretty big time too!) but he is described as a man after God's heart.

Thankful Blog Challenge - Day 1
As promised I'm participating in Blessed1's challenge to blog for one week straight about the things I'm thankful for. Since her post specifically mentioned how we all complain about this country, I've decided to try to ensure I include something I'm thankful for and appreciate/agree with regarding this great country we live in.
Although I do find myself disappointed with the direction the country is going at times and believe morally we are declining as a nation, I am thankful to live in the US. Today I am thankful that I am able to publicly state my opinion that our nation is declining morally and should be turning back to God without fear of imprisonment or worse. I'm not free from being called a bigot, but I know there are others who stand by me and I can voice my opinion without worry. (I know this is a borderline thankful, but it's been a long day with three kids, two of whom have been hopped up on too much sugar!)
As much as I find many things in this country disappointing, from our media to the "need to be PC", I am thankful and proud to live in the USA and call myself an American. That is why I speak out about certain things. I love the Lord and I love this country and would like to see us be a true nation following God.

Daily Blessings Challenge - Calling all Bloggers
Blessed1 has posted a challenge for all bloggers that I've chosen to participate in. Beginning on Easter Sunday, she is challenging bloggers to post every day for a week (that's seven posts) in which we share why we are thankful each day.
She is correct, all we hear about is how unhappy people are with this country, and I must say there are many things I find disappointing as well. However, at the same time we are very blessed in this country in many ways. Let's focus on those for at least a week.
This goes along with the Happy UPs I've posted in the past!
If you are a blogger (or even if you are not!) I challenge you to take up Blessed1's challenge. Check out her post and then link back to it when you make your posts!

3 Things I am Most Thankful For
Okay, I'll play along. Rebecca tagged me and I can't say no :)
However, the three things I am most thankful for are the three she listed (in the same order too):
1. Jesus
2. My wonderful Husband
3. My three beautiful children
Therefore, to kick it up a bit I'll list the three things (other than these) that I'm most thankful for today.
1. God's protection over my family
Since I did not have to work today, I told my hubby he could stay home and get some work done and I would take the kids to school (my Tyler and two other children who also attend). On the way I was rear ended. Everyone is fine and my vehicle (a Tahoe) does not have too much damage. Unless you look real close you can't even see the damage, but Shaun said it appears the bumper did get pushed up under the vehicle a little so it may be a bit more than we originally thought. The other car though (a mini-cooper) had to be towed away. I was stopped and he was not going very fast, but the front of his car hit my hitch and smashed in the front of his car pretty good and put a hole in what was left of his hood. He was very nice though and immediately admitted it was his fault and his insurance company has already called me to start the process of getting my vehicle fixed. It just shook us all up a bit and made me very thankful I had traded my car in for the Tahoe and that I have a mighty God watching over me and my family.
2. My Friends
I am so thankful for all the blessings God has given me through my friends. The Lord has been teaching me a lot lately and one thing is how much I need to let others into my life and allow them to help me. I don't always have to be the strong one and it is okay to let others help me. I've learned how to ask for prayer more now when needed and not feel bad about it (at least most of the time). I've found lately that I have wonderful friends who really do care for me, because of me. They just plain like me, no matter how hard that is for me to believe sometimes! And I love them all dearly. Many of them I truely consider to be family!
3. My Family
(Okay, so I'm cheating. This is Rebecca's #2 and 3 combined) One of the things that I'm most thankful for is my family. My hubby and three precious children mean the world to me. Yes, they all annoy me at times and I have days I just want to grab the keys and drive off for awhile. But I know I would start missing them in a very short time and come running back. I can't imagine my life without them.
So now that I've fulfilled my tag (and technically a Happy Up for today too!) It is my turn to pass it on. Hmmm?!? I tag Tanya and Johnny! I know you both read this periodically so you can just comment when you'd like. :) And since I usually go overboard on everything I tag Julie (haha) and Chrissy as well. Now you can do the Happy Up, Chrissy!

Happy UP - Monday 2/12
Share Time again!!!
Here are some of today's Happy UPs.
1. Only one more week of work.
As I've mentioned before, everyday at work lately has been confirmation that I've made the right decision. Today I actually worked up the nerve to give a letter to the top guy in our department detailing the exact reasons why I am leaving the company. I was very worried about it and felt a bit guilty because it very well may cause problems for a couple of people. However, every day I'm becoming aware of other things going on in the department and realize it is important that someone let the top management know what is happening. If my words cause changes to happen in the department to make it a better work environment for others, then I've achieved my goal. If not, at least I can walk away knowing I've done everything now that I could. Also, I'm getting more and more excited about my new job. My new manager is already communicating with me more and making it clear that things will be better there. I just wish I could take some others with me that I respect and care about. But they will be in my prayers.
2. Appreciation
Since I gave my notice last week, I've received so many encouraging emails and invitations for lunch it is a bit overwhelming. It is nice to know that others appreciated my work and efforts.
3. Warm Bubble Bath
Okay, this is an anticipated one. It is raining pretty hard again right now and it is a bit chilly in the house. Once I get the chills the only way I can get rid of them is a nice hot shower or bubble bath. I guess I should be saying a Hot Bubble Bath instead of warm. I have a good book I'm reading and I'll go relax and get rid of my chills once I'm done with this post.
4. My House Church
Once again I must say I love and cherish the relationship I have with my church home family. Juan is coaching a Pony league baseball team in which most of us have a child participating. In addition, my 6 year old cousin will also be participating. I don't get to see my aunt and uncle very often so this is great. Shaun and I were worried about my new job and his work and if we would be able to take Tyler to all the games and practices. My family is so wonderful and has assured us they'll help in anyway needed. I'm hoping that will not be necessary, but just in case it is, we know Tyler will be able to make it and people who love her will be there with her. We will basically be having church at every game and practice. I'm so excited!!!
5. Good Coffee
My mom recently had a Pampered Chef party and I told her I would help out and get a couple little things. They have some coffee they sell that I don't buy very often because it is not exactly inexpensive, but I splurge on it once in awhile. It has vanilla, cinnamon and hazelnut in it and is delicious. I'm drinking some right now!
6. Referrals
One of the girls from my current work told me today her mother had a friend who saw one of my Uppercase Living catalogs and wants me to do an Open House for her. That means lots more networking. I love this stuff and although I don't know that it will ever take the place of my "normal" job, it is a great way to meet new people and do something I enjoy. Plus I get a discount on the items for my home!
7. Blog Roll
A new blog I've been visiting daily just did a brief introduction of her blog roll and I was listed on it! She had some very kind words to say about this blog and it made my day! It also gave me the idea to do my own Blog Roll Introduction, so keep your eyes pealed! It is coming soon. Thank you Rebecca (Blogging Obsession).
Well, there are a bunch more, but these are the main ones for now. I guess my last Happy UP is this post. Just writing this down and posting it is a Happy UP because I get to remember all the good things that happened today!

Happy UP - Thursday 2/8
I figure I'll keep this up some more. I had really good responses before so even though I'm not going to commit to everyday posts regarding Happy UP, I'm determined to do the exercise everyday until it becomes second nature. I'll then share them with my blog friends periodically.
1. Confirmation
Some very unpleasant situations at work today became a Happy UP because they confirmed one of my earlier decisions. Last Friday I had mentioned something was finalized. Well that something was a job offer with a new company! I gave my notice this last Monday (after 7 1/2 years) and the Lord has been opening my eyes to things that are confirming my decision over and over again.
This whole process has been of God. I don't think I've ever had something this big for me, go so smoothly. I had my church house pray for me one Tuesday. I received a call about the opportunity the next day, asking if I could come in on Friday. I already had the day off for a field trip with Tyler's class and was free in the afternoon. After that they said they'd call me in a week. Instead I got a call on Monday saying they wanted to see me that Friday for a second interview. I had some time off coming so I was able to make it to that one as well. Then on Tuesday the next week I received the informal offer and by Friday afternoon I had my formal offer. The recruiter I was dealing with said it was the fastest he has ever seen this company move on a new position. I guess you can move pretty quickly when God is behind it :)
2. Massage
After a long week of month end, an almost anxiety attack on Monday prior to giving notice and then dealing with management the rest of the week since I've given notice, today's massage was wonderful! I've not been to get one since the end of November and my shoulders and neck have been protesting. It was also nice to talk with my friend Tanya again. She was actually with me having lunch when I first got the call about the opportunity which will now be my new job as of the 19th!
3. Rain
Although I did not especially enjoy driving in it in the dark tonight, I was happy to see the rain. You see, as I mentioned yesterday I am originally from Washington State and I actually get depressed a bit if we go too long without rain. I love the smell in the morning right after a good rain.
Bonus
I could not narrow it down to three big ones so here is a bonus for today!
4. Baseball for Tyler
The other kids Tyler's age at our house church are all going to be on a baseball team to be coached by one of the father's of our church. I did not inquire as to Tyler playing because we actually live in a different town and I was not sure that she would be able to play. The coach just called me and told me that Tyler CAN play so we will be going to sign her up on Saturday. I think I'm more excited than her. She's been wanting to play baseball and now she can be on a team with a bunch of kids she already knows and it is one more way for our church house to spend time together!!!

Happy UP - Day 7
Officially, today is my last Happy UP day, at least for now. But I've decided to keep at it unofficially. I'm going through quite a bit right now and making a point to focus on the good things in my life definitely keeps my persepctive right. It more importantly keeps my focus on God and the blessings He has given me.
1. Finished my book
Okay, so this is bittersweet. When you get your hands on a good fiction book you can hardly put it down and can't wait to see what happens next to your new friends. Yes, I did call them friends, because if the author has done a good job I feel like these individuals have become my friends. It is great to get to the end of the book and see how it all turns out, but it is also bittersweet because it feels like you are saying goodbye to friends. That may be part of the reason books I really enjoy I keep and reread every so often. This one will become part of my reread file! I'll do a more thorough review of this book later in the week. (Minor Protection Act by Jodi Cowles)
2. Talk with a good friend
I spent some time with one of my house church "family" members and we had a very good talk. I love getting together with my church family and talking about whatever happens to be on our hearts and minds at the time. This person is someone who is very special to me and I enjoy spending time alone with her talking. It is always so refreshing.
3. Tyler
Last week Tyler brought home her 2nd Qtr report card. She is in kindergarten and they have her doing the advanced curriculum. She is struggling a bit more than the others in the advanced curriculum, however the teacher believes she will be bored with the normal activities. We had a parent-teacher conference last week because her teacher wanted to make sure she did not appear to be overhelmed and frustrated (she is not) and I wanted to find out what we could do to help her. The only item she struggles with is reading some words and seplling out words on her own because she sometimes drops letters when she speaks. (I was only learning the alpahbet in kindergarten, now they are reading three and four letter words halfway through the year!) We've sat down and talked to Tyler this last week to make sure she is not overly frustrated and have been working with her to practice her reading. My happy up is seeing her response. Yes, she gets frustrated at times, but she is determined she is going to "get it" and just keeps trying and I've already seen improvement in the last week. It is a joy to have her ask me if she can read to me or ask me to give her words to spell for me while we are driving in the car. I have to say a large majority of my Happy Ups involved my three little "monsters" as I sometimes refer to them. They are monsters at times, but they are my monsters who I love very much and am very proud of!
4. Baby Laughs and Daddy
Okay, I have to add a fourth today. As I'm writing this post my husband is playing with our 9 month old. He is making him laugh so hard! I love the sound of baby laughs and love to watch my husband interacting with our kids. He is such a great daddy!

Happy UP - Day 6
1. Good Book
The fiction book I am reading right now is really good! Yes, it is fiction but it really gets you to thinking. It is the Minor Protection Act by Jodi Cowles. I'm almost halfway through it so far and can hardly put it down. I recommend it. Jodi also has a blog you can check out: WhereisJodi I'll share more about this once I'm done with it. The way it is going now, that should not take too long.
2. New Book
I got the other book I blogged about the other day. I just got home with it and I'm very excited to get started on it. I'll be sharing my thoughts on it I'm sure. The book is called Restoration: Returning the Torah of God to the Disciples of Jesus. Check it out on First Fruits of Zion. The person who gave me this book (thank you, you know who you are!) also gave me a copy of an article from Messiah magazine that looks very promising entitled My Big Fat Greek Mindset. The first part of it is as follows: "If we read the Bible with a Greek mindset, we inevitably misinterpret it because the human authors of the Scriptures were Hebrews, not Greeks. The eternal, inspired words of the Almighty are clothed in a Semetic worldview, not the garb of Greek philosophers." A very good point to ponder!
3. Celebration
I had a birthday party to take Tyler to today so I was a bit late for Celebration this month, but I did catch most of it (minus only the eating and fellowship at the beginning). These once a month get togethers with our network of house churches is always a Happy UP. I get to see people I haven't seen in awhile and I always learn something. I truely love my church family!
P.S. For those of you who may be reading this, I think Traver had a great idea. Let's do the PJ thing!! It would definitely mean we are a true family and would be relaxing! :)

Happy UP - Day 5 (a little late)
Okay, so I know it is officially Day 6 now, but I'm just now posting yesterday's Happy UP.
1. It's Official
I can't tell you what is official yet (I will soon though) but I can say it is finally official. I've been trying to patiently wait for this for a bit now and it is good to know that all is good and I can move on to the next step now. (More to follow next week.)
2. Friday
This is always a Happy UP. It means I get to spend the next couple days with my family. That is always a good thing.
3. Black & White Mochas
Nonfat of course! I was feeling a bit slow and tired this morning so when others were heading across the street I asked them to pick me up a Black & White mocha from Starbucks. I love the white mochas, but I was also craving that normal chocolate taste so the Black & White mocha is perfect! It was very yummy and got me through my busy morning of month end close stuff.

Happy UP - Day 4
1. New Lunch Spot
I was introduced to a new place for lunch today that is yummy delicious and pretty healthy (at least more so than other places I sometimes go). It is called the Pita Pit and I had a very yummy pita sandwich there today. Chicken, olives, lettuce, mushrooms and swiss cheese all rolled up into a pita with a touch of ranch. Mmm! Mmm!
2. Openings!
My friend Tanya, who is a massage therapist called me today with an opening in her schedule. Now I get to go in to see her almost a whole week earlier than I had originally planned. This is really good because work has been a bit stressful and I'll be going in right after month end is over. She can work all those kinks out of my neck and shoulders from sitting in front of a computer all day at work!
3. My studies
I've been learning about the Jewish calendar the past couple days and will be posting about what I've learned this weekend. It is all very interesting! It is almost 8PM now and I just got home from work so I'm going to grab some grub and then get some more studying done before I crash. Tomorrow will be busy at work as well, so I'm not sure if I'll get a post done about it tomorrow, but I promise you'll see something before the end of the weekend.
Well, it's been another productive and Happy UP day! How was yours?

Happy UP - Day 3
Nutter is right! This does get easier as you do it!
1. Efficient at work
The busiest time of the month at work starts for me tomorrow. A lot of information I wait on others for was sent early this month end, so I was able to start on a lot of things today. I had a to do list for myself today and I was able to get it all accomplished as well as a few extra things! This is a Happy UP because it makes me walk away from the day feeling like I got a lot accomplished and more importantly it means I should be able to finish up earlier in the next few days. That means more time with my family.
2. Good book and a bubble bath
This is my favorite way to relax and I had time today to take a nice warm bubble bath and to enjoy a good book. This is always a Happy UP!
3. Honest Friends
As I blog tonight, American Idol is on the TV. This is the beginning of the show when they do the auditions and bring in the best and worst. I must say that watching this makes me very thankful and happy that I have family and friends that are honest with me. I know the limits of my singing abilities, however if I was ever to delude myself that I was good, they would set me straight. God loves my voice because I'm his creation, but my voice is not one of the blessings he gave me to share with others!
Are you doing your Happy UPs?

Happy UP - Day 2

It is late and I am tired, so today's will be short and sweet.
1. Time to sleep
I woke up briefly today at 4:00 AM and was so happy to look a the alarm clock and realize I could cozy back up to my hubby and get some more sleep before having to crawl out to start my new day.
2. Church House
I love my church house and tonight was no different. It is great spending time with people who are like family and I can be totally open and honest around. We've all grown so much closer to one another and and to God in the past years.
3. My comfy bed
As soon as I get done with this I'll be brushing my teeth and hair, washing my face, slipping into some cozy PJs and then crawling into my nice comfy bed. This last time I was pregnant I talked my husband into getting one of those mattress toppers made of the memory foam material. It is so comfortable!
Well, I'm off to finish off my Happy UP day, goodnight!

It's Happy UP time again!!!! - DAY 1

The Nutster is up to it again. He has named this week as an official Happy UP week. If you don't know what that is, check out his blog, Nutter's Notes.
I'm a day behind, but it is always better late than never. My Happy UP week begins today!
1. My cold is going away! Everyone around me has been getting sick lately. All my friends at work, my kids, my husband (who never gets sick) and it finally caught up to me on Friday. The good news is that I did not get it anywhere near as bad as they did. I only got a stuffy head cold, no throwing up. Today I woke up still not feeling totally myself, but definitely doing better already.
2. My kids! It is great to come home after a long day at work and have three little individuals come running up to me with hugs and kisses. (Okay, so two run up to me, the other does the 'commando' crawl) The way they act you would think my walking in that front door was the best Happy UP of their day too!
3. My friends! Lately I've been going through something (which I'll share at a later date) and through it God has blessed me in many ways. One way is to open my eyes to how many wonderful friends I have that support me and believe in me. If any of you happen to read this, I want you to know that I value your friendship and you mean the world to me.
Now that you know my Day 1 Happy UPs consider joining in and making this your Happy UP week as well. If you do, leave me a comment so I can share in your Happiness!

Happy Up - Things I'm thankful for
I was visiting the Nutter's blog yesterday and he's started his Happy Up posts again and it reminded me how great it was to do this last time. So I've decided to start them again. You can say I'm justing copying him if you want, but I guess if I'm going to copy someone on something, this would be a good one!
Happy Up - First thing is the Happy Up posts. When I start doing this it just makes my day! I start the day looking for those good things so I can post them and that just turns your day around. At work I've told my staff that perspective is reality. For example, you can have a tremendous workload, but if you give off the impression to management that you have time on your hands (ie. long breaks, socializing too much) it will be hard to get management to take you seroiusly when you ask for assistance with your work. Well, this can be positive too! If you start out your day looking for the good stuff, then your "reality" for the day changes dramatically.
Healthy Baby - My two oldest children have been sick recently with a fever. No other symptoms, just a high fever. They are both over it now, but my 7 week old ended up with a 102.8 fever on Sunday night. My husband spent the day with him at the children's hospital on Monday. Because he is so young they wanted to do a bunch of test to ensure it was the same virus my other children had. They took multiple blood samples and even a spinal tap. I'm thankful, it was my husband who went instead of my (sorry, honey!) because I was almost in tears just hearing about what they did. But in the end, it has been confirmed it is just a virus. My baby is a bit sore from all the poking and prodding, but he is healthy!
Sunrise - This morning I was up early because I had to travel to one of our other offices a couple hours away. As I left this morning I noticed the beautiful sunrise. It was just over the horizon and was a huge circle of an almost fushia color. Absolutely beautiful! Makes getting up early not bad at all!
My Job - Since I've returned from maternity leave my job responsiblities have changed. I no longer supervise other employees. I am now only responsible for myself. I still work closely with others in my department on process improvements, projects and audits, however I am only responsible for the projects, not the individuals. It is amazing how much more I've accomplished this last week and a half since I've returned and how much more I enjoy my work!
Starbucks - okay, so I'm a coffee junkie! That is what happens when you grow up in Washington State with parents who have a coffee machine that is on from the moment they get up until the moment they go to bed. I met two other co-workers today on my way to our other office at a Starbucks and while waiting for them treated myself to a Venti decaf nonfat iced White Mocha. Yummy!
Meetings ending early - Our meeting at the other office today was supposed to end at 4PM, but was done by 1:30. Yeah!!!! We were able to easily beat the traffic and I was home by my normal time to see my babies and hubby! Which brings me to. . .
Family - I love having a wonderful family to come home to every night. Even on days like today when the little ones are a bit fussy, it is still wonderful to know that there are three individuals at home waiting for me and that I am their whole world to them right now! And once they are asleep and in bed for the night it is so wonderful and relaxing to watch them sleep.
Bubblebaths & Good Books - My ultimate way to relax! Nothing can beat reading a good book in a nice warm bubble bath. Add a scented candle and something yummy to snack on, and it is a perfect way to end a busy day!
Boy, just writing this has cheered me up even more than I already was. I need to remember to do this more often.
Thank you Lord for all the wonderful things you provide for me and help me to focus on those items instead on the things I dislike. If I'm going to exagerate something in my life, let it be the good!

Happy Up 4 (Wednesday)
I know I'm behind a day on posting, but between work and being tired all the time now (1st priority when I get home is spending time with family) I've gotten behind. I do think about these and determine my three items each night before bed. I'm just not getting them posted the same day.
1. Baby Shower - On Wednesday, my staff (now ex-staff, I guess) hosted a baby shower for me at work. Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves and it was nice for everyone to get a break from work for an hour to play games and laugh. Even some of the guys in the department joined in!
2. Good Night's sleep - The other day Shaun looked at me and asked if my stomach could get any bigger! This baby is going to be at least as big as Austin was, if not bigger. However, this means it is hard to get comfortable at night and get a good nights sleep. That and the fact that I am getting up at least 6 times a night to use the bathroom. Wednesday morning I woke up very rested. I think I was just so exhausted that I just konked out, but I slept very good!
3. Good Apple Pie - On Tuesday, Shaun had made an apple pie for me for House Church. Well a lot of desserts showed up that night so the apple pie was not finished off. Therefore, we were able to enjoy it. After Austin was in bed, Shaun and I sat down with Tyler, ate apple pie and watched the first half of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe. We watched the other half with her tonight!
